Presque Isle Draws a Crowd for Local & Legendary Kick-off

Sixty-seven people turned out for Presque Isle’s official kick-off to its Local & Legendary: Maine in the Civil War project. Highlights included artifacts and photos set up for viewing, a table of Civil War books, plenty of food–including homemade hardtack!–and a guitarist singing Civil War songs.

Audience members included a Boy Scout troop who will be working on merit badges related to the Civil War, students from Northern Maine Community College (one of the team partners), members of the Presque Isle Historical Society (the lead organization on the grant), and the general public. At the end of the evening, the team unveiled a local “READ” poster with Presque Isle Historical Society secretary/treasurer, and Local & Legendary team leader, Kim Smith dressed in Civil War attire.
